Pronunciation and Grammar Resources –

Here are a few great resources for focusing on vocabulary and grammar:

Grammar Resource:

Top Pick: Grammar in Use (American English) by Raymond Murphy (available on Amazon)

English Grammar in Use has been a key resource for intermediate-level  ESOL classrooms for over 35 years. What I like about this resource is it covers a variety of intermediate topics with clear explanations and examples and provides realistic practice exercises. The 5th edition, which came out in 2019, includes updated examples and exercises.

Vocabulary Workbooks:

Top Pick: The Heinle Picture Dictionary (available on Amazon)

The Heinle Picture Dictionary is great for focusing on areas of competency.  Learning vocabulary related to everyday activities and life experiences helps lead to real progress and makes it easier to recognize other opportunities to expand your knowledge. I highly recommend it!

Another great option: Vocabulary in Use (available on Amazon)

The Vocabulary in Use series provides full-color illustrations of vocabulary items in daily life situations. Each topic includes both examples and practice exercises to place words into a realistic context. Words are selected according to modern usage and student skill level, and explanations help learners identify important rules for choosing the right words.

Note that ‘Vocabulary in Use’ is the North American version.
